AIPhone Video Intercoms in Melbourne

See and speak to visitors before you open the door — video and audio intercom systems with door strike integration.

AIPhone Intercom Types

AIPhone is a trusted name in Australian intercom systems, offering options for every home:

  • Audio-only intercoms – speak to visitors from inside the house, no video. Ideal for single-storey homes and budget-conscious installs.
  • Video intercoms – see and speak to visitors via an indoor monitor. Available in 7" and 10" screen sizes.
  • Multi-station systems – multiple indoor monitors so every room can answer the door
  • Wireless options – no cabling between the outdoor station and indoor monitors, ideal for retrofits

Video vs Audio

Two approaches to intercom systems:

  • Audio-only – you hear the visitor but cannot see them. Lower cost, simpler installation. Suitable for single-entry homes where you can see the door from the main living area.
  • Video – you see and hear the visitor on an indoor screen. Higher security, better for deliveries, tradespeople and front-door screening. The camera typically has night vision for after-dark use.

Video intercoms are the preferred choice for most Melbourne homes — they give you peace of mind without opening the door.

Door Strike Integration

Intercom systems can integrate with door locks:

  • Electrical door strikes – the front door is locked by an electromagnetic strike. When you press the release button on the intercom, the strike disengages and the door opens.
  • Smart lock integration – some systems can trigger smart locks for remote unlocking via the mobile app
  • Keypad access – PIN-code entry for family members or regular visitors

Door strike integration is popular for homes with internal security doors and for properties with multiple entries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I answer the intercom from my phone?
Some AIPhone systems offer Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to answer the door via a mobile app. We can advise on the right model for your needs.
How far can the indoor monitor be from the outdoor station?
Wired systems can run up to 100 metres of cable between the outdoor station and indoor monitor. Wireless systems have a range of approximately 30–50 metres line-of-sight, depending on walls and interference.
Can the intercom work with my existing door lock?
Most standard door locks work with an intercom — you simply press the release button to talk to the visitor, then manually turn the lock. If you want automatic unlocking, we can install an electrical door strike that releases when you press the button on the intercom.
